Billy is a 9yo 16.1h bay gelding with a small white star who needs a new home urgently. He is sound and retired from racing in December due to lack of speed.
Good to catch, float, worm, shoe and does not kick or bite people (my 11yo daughter can catch, lead and brush him). He has been lunged, done some roundyard work, including join up, he has been saddled and bridled with no problems but has not yet had anyone on his back as he finished racing in very light condition and has been resting and gaining weight before being started under saddle. He hasn't given any indication that backing will be any problem.
He is gentle and affectionate with people, and happily shared a very large paddock with five other horses. However he gets stressed and agitated with other horses in small areas. This has become a major problem for me as we have lost all of our summer pasture and the six horses need to be kept in a small paddock and completely hand fed until our winter feed comes through, this is proving difficult and dangerous due to personality conflicts escalating with my other horses, and I need to re-home Billy as soon as possible.
Billy needs a confident, experienced as he is not broken to saddle. He needs individual attention or to spelled for a few more months in a large shared paddock with plenty of feed until he relaxes and lets down from his high strung racing mode and learns to be a horse - neither of which I can give him at the moment.
